IRS announces static mortality tables for 2018

In Notice 2017-60 the IRS provides the static mortality tables to be used for defined benefit pension plans in 2018. These tables are same as what was in the proposed regulations issued 12/29/2016, therefore the existing version of EAC PV Tools already handles these tables. More information is here.

(1) For 2018 the §417(e)(3) applicable mortality table for 2018 is "LS2018".

(2) The §430(e)(3) static tables for 2018 are:

• "IRS2018-NON-M" = male non-annuitant
  
• "IRS2018-ANN-M" = male annuitant
  
• "IRS2018-COM-M" = male optional combined for small plans
  
• "IRS2018-NON-F" = female non-annuitant
  
• "IRS2018-ANN-F" = female annuitant
  
• "IRS2018-COM-F" = female optional combined for small plans
  

(3) Static mortality tables for 2018 determined in accordance with former §1.430(h)(3)-1 are set forth in Appendix A of Notice 2017-60. These static mortality tables apply under §430(h)(3)(A): (1) for valuation dates occurring during 2018 with respect to plan years beginning during 2017, and (2) with respect to plan years beginning during 2018 if the option under §1.430(h)(3)-1(f)(2) is used for a plan..
