NAE

NAE returns the National Average Wage Index (a.k.a. National Average Earnings) as determined by the Social Security Administration. NAE is used to compute a person’s Social Security retirement benefit, the OASDI contribution and benefit based (wage base), and several other annual regulatory amounts.

NAE is based on annual wage data tabulated by the SSA. The wage data are based on wages subject to Federal income taxes and contributions to deferred compensation plans.

More information can be found at the Social Security web site.
