SSERA returns
the Social
Security Early Retirement Age for a given date of birth. This is used to
determine the number of reduction months to calculate the early retirement
reduction. (SSEarlyRetAge is the same function.)
Note: You must be at
least 62 for the entire month to receive benefits.
The Social Security early
retirement age is based on the day of birth according to the following formula:

Note: Persons born on January 1 of any year should refer to the normal retirement age for the previous year. Persons born on the 1st of the month, the benefit (and the full retirement age) are calculated as if your birthday was in the previous month.
